broken clouds
Every July 4th, residents begin pouring into the streets of Catonsville and head up to Frederick Road for the parade. During the day the streets are filled again with thousands of people heading to the fireworks at the high school. No one gives much thought to the logistics or funding of the events, they just know that they will be treated to a fabulous celebration every year.
Since 1947, a dedicated group of volunteers plan for every detail of this annual tradition and they love doing it. Support the work of the Catonsville 4th of July Committee by making a donation and keep this tradition alive for future generations. for over 50 years, our chairman emeritus of the fireworks committee has recruited and and directed the fireworks display. While Tom is now watching us from above, many of the fireworks committee is here because of Tom Connor and we celebrate his life, and Maria Odaly’s life every year!
Elected officials and those running for office who represent and/or are seeking to represent the Greater Catonsville area will be permitted to participate in the parade. The fee for each elected official entering the parade, representing the office they currently hold, is $250; The fee for registered candidates campaigning for office (regardless if they currently are a sitting official) is $1500. Below are the rules for elected officials and candidates, in addition to the general parade rules.
Elected officials are welcome to invite their immediate family only (spouse and children) to join them in the parade – no supporters/walkers. Each elected official is limited to ONE vehicle per entry fee (this excludes any required police detail vehicles).
Supporters/walkers are limited to a total of twenty (20) people per entry fee; additional supporters/walkers will incur an additional fee of $100 per person and must be paid in advance. Campaign t-shirts, signs and banners are permitted in the parade with an approved entry. Each candidate is limited to ONE vehicle per entry fee (this excludes any required police detail vehicles).
Since 1947, a dedicated group of volunteers plan for every detail of this annual tradition and they love doing it. One member, Tom Connor, has been a member for over 50 years!
